Consolidation food question
Consolidation food question
In Consolidation we get to eat 2 slices of bread a day. I won't be eating the bread because my body hates wheat. It makes me feel ill and bloated. I'll be sticking to wheat free breads I've discovered on this diet which are already allowed in small amounts. Also, there is pasta, etc, added in. I won't be able to eat that either. What can I substitute to go back onto normal eating at that stage? Are potatoes, corn and peas added in by then, or can I choose them instead of the wheat products?
Re: Consolidation food question
I looked on the glycemic index of wholegrain bread and it is 51.
Potatoes are 111, corn is 78 and peas are 46.
The peas look good, they are low on the index. I would limit the amount of corn and potatoes because they are higher.
Some other lower glycemic foods that you might want to use twice a day instead are:
Long grained rice, 50
Pearled Barley, 22
Sweet Potatoes, 48
Yam, 35
Brown rice, 50
Rolled oats, 51
Chapattis made with barley instead of flour, 37
Gluten free pasta, 54
Wheatless bread - find one you like and google to make sure it has a low GI.
Remember that potatoes and corn can be eaten at your reward meal so they are not gone forever.
